2K11 24/7

Doomz tackles a major challenge. A year at a time with daily updates!

The 2K11 24/7 CCCXIII: I Don't Know Where I'm Supposed to Be in Life, but I Know it's Not HERE

Pastedgraphic-3

Sometimes life leaves me wondering whether it's already too late. Have I wandered so far down the rabbit hole that I've somehow lost who I am? Have I made myself numb from walking around in a daze for now, trying so hard to be different that I've wound up like everybody else?

Ever get that feeling that you're not unite who you're supposed to be in life? That there's a destination, and while you don't know what it is or what it looks like, something in your gut tells you that you're not there yet?

Sure you have. Very few of us are completely content with our lives — most of us feel that there's something in our lives that we could change in order to be happier.

Something doesn't seem right with this picture, though. What's on the other side of the fence? What's in that territory that we might catch the odd glimpse of now and again?

While we might not know, it doesn't make it impossible to find out!

The 2K11 24/7 CCC: 300

Pastedgraphic-1

Day 300. 300 posts. What a year.

Originally I was going to come up with a massive list of things we could do to make the world a better place.

And then reality came around to give me a swift kick in the derriere.

I'm under the weather, I'm short on time, and I'm burnt out on blogging. I feel like I've posted about everything that's come to mind, but that's a problem, since there's still another 65 posts to come after this.

But then it came to me while I was exercising infinite levels of patience while waiting for my iPod Touch to get looked at in the Apple Store (another story entirely on its own) —

Why not make blogs on all the things that we could do to improve the world one by one?

The 2K11 24/7 CCXCI: Calling it Quits

Pastedgraphic-3

Calling it quits is easy. Why commit to something you really don't want to do? Does it benefit you? Is there anything you'll gain from being stuck in a situation you don't want to be in?

That's a question I face more often than I'd like to admit.

The 2K11 24/7 CCXXXVI: When Disaster Strikes

Is it just me or are natural disasters happening a lot more often than they used to? Up here in Toronto, we can't really complain — the latest disasters we've really seen are the rumblings from a 5.0 magnitude earthquake in 2010 and a 5.8 yesterday, but others across the world suffer FAR worse than we do.

The 2K11 24/7 CCXV: Just Chill

Sometimes you've just gotta slow the pace down and see where life takes you.

I scribbled this post out on the bus — note: it was the wrong bus, it took slightly longer to get home; but after a testing game of Ultimate Frisbee in the rain, I welcomed the rest any way I could get it.

We're a bunch of busybodies.  We spent all our time telling each other how busy we are, wearing the burden like a badge of honour. We try to fit as much as we can into our days, because there's an increasing awareness of our mortality and the finite nature of time.

But really — what's wrong with just sitting back, taking a deep breath and letting the calm wash over you every now and then?

Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Do you know what'll happen if you stop and take a little "me" time here and there?

The 2K11 24/7 CXLIX: Post-Wedding Cooldown

So let's start with the obvious — I'm MARRIED. Everyone I know an believe it just as little as I can, but there's a ring on my left ring finger, my phone has been buzzing constantly with well wishes from friends on Facebook and Twitter, and I suddenly feel some relief from no longer having to plan such a MAJOR event. I'd totally tell you all about it, but I'm exhausted and between an intense reception and getting ready to vanish from the public eye for a few weeks.

So as promised, there'll be some posts from me today and tomorrow, and then you can look forward to several days of my friends and peers and their interpretations of "life improvement", the topic I asked them to write about! I hope you'll enjoy reading them over the coming weeks as much as I did!

See you tomorrow, and I hope your weekend was just as crazy as mine :)

The 2K11 24/7 LXXXII: Dear Future Me

"You'll look back at this one day and laugh."

Unless you're a human encyclopedia — and if so, I pity you, because I do rather enjoy the convenience of being able to forget useless crap — you're likely to forget things.

Names, phone numbers, events — even life lessons.

The 2K11 24/7 XLII: What Have the Prior Generations Taught You Today?

I was having a conversation with an older gentleman during my Tuesday morning subway adventure about the signs of progress. (During the various delays we were encountering on our trip, he eventually struck up conversation and I took my earbuds out to chat.) It's definitely interesting having conversations with people who're separated from you by a couple of generations — it'll often open your eyes to perspectives that you might not have thought of by yourself. The subway was moving ESPECIALLY slow, and we were joking about what time it would be when we eventually got to the station, how bad the service has been, etc. I'd been working on the 2K11 24/7 XXXVIII on my BlackBerry, and the conversation soon turned to this generation's over-reliance on technology.
